Ozark Mountains at Lake of the Ozarks
I ventured out on a day hike with a friend through the trails of the Ha Ha Tonka State Park, an area situated nicely among the rolling hills of the Ozark Mountains in Central Missouri. This park is an awesome spot to explore natural turquoise springs, sheer bluffs, and some super interesting ruins of a turn-of-the-century castle overlooking the Ha Ha Tonka spring. The trails were easy to moderate and offered some fun exploration at most every turn.
Further exploration of the area included a fun tour of Bridal cave which features some absolutely beautiful waterbeds and stunning mineral deposits and draperies throughout.
Our trip concluded with a relaxing day of kayaking on the Niangua River. We spent a few hours on the water floating alongside some beautiful bluffs and calm water.
Trip Highlights
- Hiking good for all skill levels and appropriate for day / short hikes.
